This directory contains 51 Mars Global Surveyor Orbiter Camera (MOC)
images in Planetary Data System (PDS) compressed image (IMQ) format.
To create PDS uncompressed image (IMG) format, use the program
'readmoc' which is provided on the PDS archive CD-ROMs in the software
directory. That directory includes both a SunOS (and Solaris) and
Windows98 (DOS) version of the decompression program. This directory
also includes a text file, 'ancillary.tab' that provides ancillary
image information in PDS format.

NOTE: These data have not been validated for delivery to the PDS.
They are made available to the Mars Geoscience community and the Mars
Exploration Program to support landing site selection and validation
for the Mars Exploration Rover (MER) 2003 and later landing missions.

NOTE: The purpose of this directory is to insure that the MER Landing
Site community has all of the images acquired of the refined landing
site list. Images from mapping cycles M00 through M23 are available
on our web site (within the MOC Gallery
(http://www.msss.com/moc_gallery/index.html)) or from the USGS MOC PDS
site (http://ida.wr.usgs.gov). This directory contains only images
from extended mission phases E01 through E08 (no images were actually
acquired during E07 and E08 owing to the global dust storms. For the
most part, the community already has these images, but the intent here
it to make sure.

Please direct all inquires regarding these ellipses, and the images
provided in this directory, to the Mars Operations Office or the Mars
Exploration Office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory:
