Images in .IMG and .IMQ Format:

Pictures in .IMG and .IMQ formats accessed via the Malin Space Science Systems Mars Orbiter Camera Image Gallery are in the public domain, and no citation, reference, or credit line is requested.

Processed but NOT Map-Projected Images:

Processed pictures in the Malin Space Science Systems Mars Orbiter Camera Image Gallery constitute a value-added product. If these processed images are to be used in a publication by news media or for educational purposes, we request that the following credit line be used: NASA/JPL/Malin Space Science Systems.

Use for scientific purposes is encouraged. The use may be cited and referenced as follows:

Alternatively, the use may be acknowledged in the paper's "Acknowledgements" section, e.g., "The authors acknowledge the use of Mars Orbiter Camera images processed by Malin Space Science Systems that are available at http://www.msss.com/moc_gallery/."

Malin Space Science Systems and the California Institute of Technology built the Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) using spare hardware from the Mars Observer mission. MSSS operates the camera from its facilities in San Diego, CA. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory's Mars Surveyor Operations Project operates the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft with its industrial partner, Lockheed Martin Astronautics, from facilities in Pasadena, CA and Denver, CO.
